Why Indians don't wear footwear inside home?

Indians practice a very hygiene habit of taking off  footwear before entering their houses. This practice is one of the deepest root of the Indian tradition . Indians or specifically Hindus(the largest religion of India) consider their home as temple, hence this practice applies to temples too.

Footwear worn outside home contains various dirt, mud, bacteria and impurities. The mundane reason of this habit is to keep the home clean and stay away from unnecessary health hazards that could be caused by a dirty footwear. It is to be noted that walking barefoot has many benefits to our body like increasing the immunity, pulling out toxins and much more.

However, now a days the graph of Indian tradition is scaling towards westernization. Footwear is categorized as a fashion accessory and some have started storing them in their wardrobe inside their rooms.
